The Every Body Fits Podcast is by two northern girls from the UK (Kim and Amy) who work in the fitness industry and got sick of constantly hearing that size = health.

We chat to various folks about their experiences with health, fitness and diet culture. We find out how they found freedom from the toxic side of the industry. Through listening to this podcast we really do see that when it comes to health and fitness Every Body Fits!
The podcast has a range of guests from all walks of life – food bloggers, fitness professionals of all shapes and sizes, nutritionists and ex-slimming world leaders to name a few – and hear how their experiences have changed the way they eat and exercise and the relationship they have with their own bodies.
Episode 1 – Time for a change | Amy and Kim
TRIGGER WARNING – Talk of eating disorders and calories. In this opening episode we (Amy & Kim) talk about our backgrounds working within the fitness industry, our relationships with our bodies, our introductions and unhealthy relationships with food and exercise thanks to diet culture and the personal experiences that have lead us to where we are now – trying to create a platform for others to tell their story and help people who are in similar situations.

Episode 2 – Food Blogging with Disordered Eating | Amy and Kim interview Laura, aka Geordie Scran
On this episode we chat to the lovely Laura, a food blogger based in Newcastle. Laura discusses how her relationship with food and exercise became very controlling, how that impacted her health including the loss of her menstrual cycle and how you shouldn’t believe all you see on social media. Despite posting all her amazing foodie photos she really wasn’t allowing herself to have the life people believed she was.

Episode 3 – Transformations, Wellness Camps and Karaoke | Amy and Kim interview Charles, aka Coach Wagon
On this episode we chat to Charles (aka Team Wagon) about his fitness journey. From his own experience with transformation challenges to running his own ‘transformation’ challenge campaign as a fitness trainer in his own gym, to working as a coach at teen ‘wellness’ camps over in the US, Charles has such an interesting story to tell.

Episode 4 – Fat Positivity, Pigeons and Politics | Amy and Kim interview Cara Macb
Cara lives in a fat body and spent years trying to change herself to fit in with the ‘norm’ until she realised that she didn’t have to.
In this episode we discuss Caras lived experiences as a queer fat person who speaks out on social media about normalising obesity. She talks about her journey towards body acceptance and intuitive eating and we delve into the world of politics in the current ‘obesity crisis’.

Episode 5 – Fat, fit, funny and fabulous | Amy and Kim interview Martin aka thefatathletes
In this episode we chat to Martin about life as a fat fitness lover. We discuss how he overcame his own body image issues and battle with the desire for ‘thinness’, how he established the ‘fat athletes’ community to create a supportive, friendly community for fat runners and to give them a safe space to engage in positive movement and experience within the LGBTQIA+ community as a fat person.

Becky is the owner of ‘Missfits Workout’, dance exercise classes designed to allow people of any shape and size to feel comfortable and have fun moving their body outside of a gym environment! We chat to her about her experience with diet culture, working in a fat phobic industry as a fat trainer and her work to change the attitudes of the fitness industry through a joint campaign known as FPAWS – fitness professionals against weight stigma – campaigning to take the weight stigma from professional fitness qualifications.

Episode 7 – ABC – ADHD, Belly dancing and column writing | Amy and Kim interview Sophie Mei Lan
When she was just 19, Sophie appeared on the television show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ showcasing her bellydancing talents. From there, Sophie has had an extraordinary journey. From teaching bellydancing classes, to journalism, single parenting, struggling with health issues and being neurodivergent, she has such a fascinating story.
